Alex Cox: Technical Project Manager

Alex studied Computer Science at Durham gaining honours and then commenced his career in the world of Theatre and Live Events at Capo Ltd. His capability was soon recognised and he has been involved with a number of high profile events some of which were as a contractor to Media Powerhouse. Those projects included 360 Degree Projection and Control for Peter Pan and the award winning Procar/ Ferrari F1 hospitality installation project.
Alex is now pleased to have become a part of the team at Media Powerhouse where he will be responsible for managing installation and rental projects as well as helping to research new and emerging technologies.

Andy Watterston: Technical Project Manager

Andy has been involved in the Live Events industry since he toured with major bands such as “Jethro Tull” and the industry got into his blood.

Andy joined Caribiner Inc. in 1980 as a Production Manager where he was able to work with some of the industry’s finest and learn his craft.

From 1980-1989 Andy used his skills as a Production Director in Live Events with GGK and NML.

He first worked in AV Equipment Rental when he joined Charles Beddow and the team at Blitz Vision in their very early days ultimately joining the Board. He enjoyed the challenge and developed a number of long term client relationships through his unbridled enthusiasm. His extensive experience spanning many years has ranged from small prestigious meetings to staging elaborate international events with equal care and attention at all times.

Gary Makein: Account Manager

With more than three decades of experience in the AV industry Gary has absorbed an enormous amount of specialist knowledge and expertise.  He started his career at Samuelson Group and was a founding Director of Operations at Show Presentation Services. 

Gary joined Media Powerhouse to support and service an established client base which includes Musgrave Retail Partners GB, Corporate Events Plus and Line-Up.

Howard Jenkins: Account Manager

Howard began his Audio Visual career at Hammonds of Watford before joining Blitz Vision in 1991.  Howard enjoys close, mutually respectful relations with many UK Production and Creative Agencies and brings a good natured and calm authority to those clients who include Haymarket, H2 and Delta Conference Services.

My most flexible feature: “the width of my smile after another successful event”

Jenny King: Sets and Staging

Jenny is an industry professional with over 20 year’s experience.  She started SetHire.com in 2002 providing modular set design and systems to the conference and live events industry.  She has expertise in 3D set design and experiential project management.  At Media Powerhouse Jenny continues to supply modular set and traditional carpentry set services to the live events industry.

My most flexible feature: “my Christmas shopping list if I’m travelling to New York!”

Mark Lewis: Account Manager

Mark studied Stage Management & Theatre Studies at the Welsh College of Music and Drama until 1999. Following graduation he travelled the world with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, managing the entertainment department onboard the world’s largest cruise ship. In August 2004 Mark returned to the stable shores of the UK and began designing the technical elements of corporate events and award shows.  Having worked for both AV and Production companies, Mark has a unique understanding of what makes a great event, and brings this expertise to all his clients.
Mark has also worked as a video consultant to several theatrical productions including “Pacific Overtures” & “Wizard of Oz” (Leicester Haymarket, 2006), “Dr Doolittle” (National Tour 2007), “Eurobeat - Almost Eurovision” (National Tour & West End 2008).

Simon Cox: Technical Director

Simon is responsible for the group’s investment and infrastructure.  An operative engineer, Simon started his career at Anna Valley Displays before moving on to ProQuip Video Wall Projects and then Blitz Charter Group, where he became the Chief Video Engineer.  Simon has worked with high-end, pioneering technology since the mid 1990’s and his experience spans the entire range of AV from widescreen systems and LED environments to innovative HD technology.  His expertise also covers show control hardware, software system design and special effects.  Simon has worked on several prestigious and challenging projects including a 60 unit cube wall linked to musical fountains for Marconi and the Microsoft Convergence Events.

My most flexible feature: “sleep – there is little difference between three small children and a 24 hour show!”

Simon Ireland: Sets and Staging

Simon Ireland has been designing and constructing scenery, staging and exhibition stands since 1986. His attention to detail and quality of finish have also led him into the permanent installation sector. Projects have taken him all over the world working for some of the biggest names in business and live entertainment.
